Abstract
When individuals are uninformed of certain facts concerning another culture they will oftentimes make false assumptions about the other culture. These inferences perpetuate conflict and confusion among cultures and subcultures leading to misunderstandings that can be prevented. To eradicate misinformation among cultures, all colleges and universities should mandate that every undergraduate student take a cultural diversity class in African American or intercultural communication as a requirement of their program. Required courses in communication among cross-cultural settings can defray and nullify notions and conjectures of historic and continuous racism and promote a better understanding of cultural politics. This paper addresses the need for every undergraduate student to become informed about cross-cultural communication.
