Paper TitleGlobalization, Religious Strife and the Media in India
Abstract:Abstract: McLuhan’s vision of the global village has come to pass and what a global village it is! Receiving Western media, and inundated with products from the West, globalization for most developing countries is also a relentless push to become good consumers.
When political entities within the country support such a change, the consequences are far-reaching and, sometimes, surprising. This paper discusses the rise of fundamentalism as an unexpected feature in the globalization process in India, a developing country.
