New practice field ‘revealed’

About 500 members of the University of Louisville community turned out Tuesday night to participate in the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” unveiling of the new marching band practice field.
The field, an intramurals field at the end of Brook Street near Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium, was renovated with new lights, entrance, fencing and a building for storage as part of the TV show’s visit to Louisville and makeover of band member Patrick Henry Hughes’ family home. The field renovation was accomplished in one week and coincided with the home’s makeover. The band will share it with intramural sports.
On Wednesday afternoon, the “move that bus” event took place at the home, with the family seeing it for the first time. The Hughes family episode of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” is expected to air nationally on ABC in February.
