Burke Named Alumni Fellow
Daniel E. Burke ’61S, ’67GS is the Speed School ’s 2003 Alumni Fellow. He received bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees in chemical engineering from Speed.
An engineering specialists manager with Exxon Chemical, Burke is responsible for approximately 650 engineering specialists worldwide.
He also has operated the world’s highest capacity ethylene-propylene synthetic rubber plant for the company, achieving record profits and record above-capacity production rates while attaining best-ever performance in quality, environmental emissions and mechanical reliability.
Burke also has been responsible for managing the largest division at the Baton Rouge Chemical Plant Laboratory, which supports Exxon Chemical’s largest manufacturing site in the areas of quality control, analytical support, process troubleshooting and bench-scale process development.
Burke was responsible for the start-up of a "state of the art" medical department at the plant that includes full clinical facilities.
The University of Louisville Alumni Association recognizes alumni fellows for distinguished careers. They hold the title for life and are invited to return to the university to share their expertise with students.
