New Alumni Survey Planned

Recent graduates

UofL graduates who received a baccalaureate degree during academic years 2006-07, 2007-08, and 2008-09 will be asked to complete a brief 5-7 question electronic survey to assess the quality and effectiveness of our academic programs and services. Participation is voluntary and responses will be confidential. Data from this survey supports UofL's 2020 strategic plan by assessing the university's success in alumni securing jobs within their degree program or continuing their education by entering graduate and/or professional programs.

UofL Grads, Students Help BP With Oil Ideas

Kaitlin Smith

Kaitlin Smith works from a computer at Ernst Hall.

Several UofL engineering graduate students and alumni are gaining valuable work experience on a high-profile project - assessing the ideas streaming in for containing the source of BP's Deepwater Horizon oil spill and for cleaning it up. BP has reported the students "are doing a fantastic job" not only in triaging the ideas but also documenting technical aspects that are useful to the further technical review of these ideas. Students were gathered from a pool of people with graduate-level engineering skills from UofL's Speed School of Engineering to help. The initial 11 engineering students and graduates, as well as one graduate with a master of business administration degree, underwent a rigorous training program in June and are contributing substantially to the overall effort, according to BP.
